"Mama Nuzzling Baby" is done in pastel. It's a picture of one of my dearest friends with her baby when he was just 4 months old and still quite floppy. She was in my studio, sitting in a stream of morning light, loving on her baby with her wonderful, open heart.
When I was at the birth of this baby, I had taken photographs of the birth, but none of them turned out due to technical difficulties. His mother and I decided he simply didn't want his arrival in this world to be documented on film. Instead, we have this drawing to remember his early days by.
I am not sure why, but this picture has brought tears to my eyes with how beautiful it is! I have a 5month old currently so that could be why. I see myself in this smelling, kissing and nuzzling my son. Just beautiful!!
